Do you want to keep that ageing process at bay but want to stay away from botox and chemical peels? Well now us ladies in our 30s can! When you’re next doing the weekly grocery shop (or every day shop in our house!) then chuck these age defying foods in the trolley to give your skin what it’s crying out for in the most natural way possible. *Runs off to the nearest supermarket*


Oily Fish for the Joints


As we get older we are more at risk of developing arthritis, oily fish naturally contains an anti inflammatory agent that can help when eaten at least twice a week keep it at bay along with so many other health benefits. Rheumatoid arthritis affects more than 580,000 people in England and Wales. As time goes on, the immune system attacks the joints, making them stiff, swollen and painful. Here are types of fish and other foods that contain the essential Omega 3 fatty acids.


  • Herring

  • Mackerel

  • Pilchard

  • Salmon

  • Sardine

  • Trout

  • Fresh tuna

For veges (like us!) or those who just don’t like fish then the alternative to getting your essential Omega 3 fatty acids are also found in


  • Nuts

  • Seeds

  • Corn

  • Soya beans

  • Walnuts

  • Green leafy vegetables

  • Milk

  • Eggs

Some of these vege products only have one of the fatty acids so be sure to have a consistently balanced diet of all of these if not opting for fish.


Be careful though, pregnant women and those trying for a baby should eat no more than two portions of oily fish a week because it can contains low levels of pollutants that can build up in the body.


Spices for Skin


Your spice rack doesn’t have to be just for your curry, it can be included in your beauty regime! Many spices have essential nutrients to make your skin (and hair) look healthy along with high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. They can give radiant skin, eradicate redness and fight those wrinkles!


  • Cinnamon is packed full of antioxidants that fight against skin damage.  “Cinnamon has more antioxidant value than half a cup of blueberries,” says nutritionist Keri Glassman, the author of The O2 Diet

  • Hot Pepper to fight the wrinkles! "Vitamins A and C in peppers help combat free radicals, preventing the breakdown of collagen to maintain the integrity of our skin,“ says Marti Wolfson, the culinary director at Blum Center for Health in Rye Brook, N.Y. Add jalapeno, cayenne or chilli peppers to any dish.

  • Turmeric, part of the ginger family, has so many health properties, it should have a blog of its own! Too many to list for this blog….. the key substance it contains is called  curcurmin which has  powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Research has also found curcurmin to lower risk of heart disease, ease bloating bellies and help with depression.

Rosemary for Hair


There’s so many fancy products on the shelf now promising to strengthen hair or prevent hair loss but how many actually work? It may be more beneficial and cost saving to try the natural ingredient Rosemary to help with these things.  Rosemary contains certain organic compounds that help to stimulate your scalp circulation, promoting new and faster hair growth, Here’s how you can use it for your hair-


  • Drink Rosemary Green Tea

  • Mix Rosemary Essential Oil with your shampoo

  • Massage the scalp with Rosemary Essential Oil

Iron Rich Foods For Dark Circles


Those dark circles under our eyes can be stubborn. Although particular creams can help, they are not usually enough to get deeper to the root cause. A lack of iron in our diet can contribute greatly to this so make sure you’re eating enough of the iron rich foods below to brighten up any eye!


  • Lean red meats

  • Kale

  • Spinach

  • Chard

For vegetarians


  • Egg yolks

  • Beans

  • Chickpeas

  • Lentils

Another great tip for dark circles, which can be caused also by dehydration, is water. Cheap, easy to get hold of, water. Try carrying around a 1 litre bottle with you wherever you go so you can sip throughout the day and fill up once a day.

Look at my new post - Searching for the Perfect Pins?

We reveal our top 5 secrets just for you!


When stepping out in the day for a bit of shopping and a coffee with the girls or glamming ourselves up for a night out on the town, we love our legs gorgeously soft, smooth, sun kissed and with a touch of sheen and shine! So here we reveal to you our 5 simple steps to getting the perfect looking pins!


We haven’t been paid to feature ANY of the products we mention below, we just want to spread the word with you guys what works best for us…..
1) Exfoliate

The night before we jump in the shower and exfoliate thoroughly, getting rid of those dead skin cells and dry skin. We make up our own scrub with solid cocoa butter (we use Palmers Cocoa Butter) and any sugar (just grab what you’ve got out the kitchen cupboard) which works wonders and and doesn’t cost half as much as a pre made scrub!


2)Scrub

Now you can use your regular loofah to scrub OR you can do what we do, especially on the knees, and that’s to use a toothbrush. Yes you heard us…… a toothbrush!! It works! Just remember to NOT use the one you currently brush your teeth with. Use an old one or just buy a cheap one from that shop down the road. It really gets in those knee creases leaving them looking lovely and moist. Who doesn’t like a moist looking knee?


3)Shave

Next up, we shave. We love the Wilkinson Sword Xtreme 3 Razor, it gives a really close shave and we’re a sucker for a pretty colour razor…….


Now forget the expensive shaving foam……. use conditioner on your legs instead! It leaves the legs so soft and in our opinion, much softer than any shaving foam we’ve ever tried. If you don’t want to use your expensive conditioner then just buy a cheaper one, it works just as well!


*Top Tip*- our leg hair grows the most between the hours 10am- 2pm so try to shave after 2pm to get the smoothest legs for longer!


4)Tan

We then get our favourite moisturiser with tanning lotion already in it. We love Dove Summer Glow which comes in different shades to suit your skin colour.


We go with this as there’s minimal risk of streaking or random patches that keep us up at night, and it’s so natural looking for that gorgeous sun kissed look.


Now it’s time for some sleep!


5) Moisturise

The next day before heading out, we use a great trick to get the lovely sheen on your legs…… reach for that Palmers cocoa butter again and rub it all over those gorgeous legs of yours! Concentrate on the shin and thigh area and oi oi! *wolf whistle* You are good to go! Now go flaunt your perfectly prepped pins of yours and tell us how any of these tips worked for you by commenting below!
